MGMT 3000 - The Visionaries - Fall 2025
Welcome to our Organizational Behavior consulting project. In this blog, we analyze a real company experiencing an organizational challenge, apply course concepts to understand the issue, and present evidence-based recommendations. This project represents our team’s work in collaboration with International Paper.
Background Information about International Paper
International Paper is a global company with the mission to improve people's lives, the planet, and the company's performance by transforming renewable resources into product that people will depend on everyday. Although International Paper is a global company with over 37,000 employees, this project focuses exclusively on the Elizabethton, TN location with approximately 58 employees. Our analysis is based on this specific site
General Description of the Problem
The organization is facing challenges due to its recent acquisition of DS Smith, ongoing strategic restructuring, and a struggling market for fiber based products. These changes have created a uncertainty and pressure within the workplace, requiring employees and managers to adapt quickly to new structures and demands.
At the Elizabethton location, employees have experienced uncertainty and stress as a result of these global changes. Local managers and staff report challenges in adapting to shifting structures and expectations. This makes the issue especially relevant to organizational behavior, as it directly affects employee motivation, adaptability to change, and day-to-day teamwork at this site.
